Meet Mike Dieckman, Vice President and Loan Officer at WBD. Mike joined WBD in 1998, recently celebrating his 24th anniversary. Mike's primary role is to originate SBA 504 loans, partnering with area financial institutions to provide an attractive financing option for small businesses. Along with the relationships he's forged with lenders in the Eau Claire area, Mike is also a member of the Chippewa Valley Bankers Association.
WBD: During your long tenure here at WBD, what experiences have helped you further your professional career?
Mike: "Since we work with a financial institution on every project, it's important to have a finger on the pulse of commercial lending and the issues that affect banks and credit unions."
WBD: What has enabled you to expand your skills and connections in your role at WBD?
Mike: "The social interaction with potential partners (commercial lenders) has resulted in close working relationships and personal friendships, making both sides more comfortable when a project comes along."
WBD: What's the single best piece of advice you've been given?
Mike: "Trust your gut and always be honest!"
WBD: What advice do you have for up and comers in your field?
Mike: "Work hard and surround yourself with smart people."
WBD: If you could visit one country you haven’t been to, where would it be and why?
Mike: "Italy. I've been to Spain, but not near the Mediterranean and would like to see Venice, etc."
