In 2015, Owen Jones and Richie Bassi acquired Tommy Docks, a Weston, Wisconsin-based manufacturer specializing in high-quality do-it-yourself dock systems and accessories. Despite initial excitement, their first year presented challenges, with internal operations struggling and profitability declining, even as sales increased.
To overcome obstacles, Tommy Docks strategically shifted focus towards expanding retail partnerships with Amazon and Lowe's, rebranded and redeveloped their website which led to a significant increase in online sales. Under Owen's sole ownership, the company successfully diversified its income sources, experiencing heightened demand and setting the stage for growth.
With support from WBD and securing an SBA 504 loan, Owen purchased land with expansion potential and constructed a larger building in 2022, increasing space from 20,000 to 28,000 square feet. This strategic move not only provided Tommy Docks with the necessary resources for sustained growth but also contributed to job creation, rural development, and new income for the Weston area, highlighting the company's commitment to a flourishing future.
